Café Etico News - Spring 2022 Edition
Communities in Solidarity with Communities
Café Etico is pleased to announce our new Community Giving Program aimed at raising $1,000/month to supply coffee to food security programs and NGOs in the community.
We have been told that coffee is one of the hardest items to source - and yet most requested - in food security programs. So, in November 2021 Café Etico reached out to CoDevelopment Canada's Canadian partners to purchase coffee to supply those programs in our local community.
Thanks to partners the BC Teachers' Federation, Hospital Employees' Union and Surrey Teachers' Association, so far we have been able to supply 500 lbs of coffee to our friends and neighbours at:
Carnegie Community Centre Association for the Oppenheimer Park morning coffee cart
"Our women in the downtown eastside come into our drop-in centre and our shelters looking for a meal and a nice hot cup of coffee. You provide that to us through your generosity and kindness and the women appreciate it more than words can adequately express. It's amazing how an act of kindness can totally turn someone's day around and a cup of coffee is more beneficial than many people realize. And the coffee tastes great and the women love it!!"
